Laird’s BL651 series contains Nordic nRF52810 silicon with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) 5, ANT, and proprietary 2.4 GHz capabilities to provide groundbreaking ultra-low power performance. Building on Laird’s multi-generation module developments utilizing Nordic silicon (BL600, BL652, and BL654), this series offers cost-effective Bluetooth 5 enablement for simple BLE applications. The BL651 series shows all the capabilities of the Nordic nRF52810 silicon in a small, fully certified module with simple soldering castellation for easy prototyping and mass production manufacturing. In addition, the BL651 series is 100% PCB footprint drop-in compatible with the BL652 series of modules.
Every BL652 series module is designed to enable OEMs to add single-mode BLE 5 to small, portable, power-conscious devices. The BL652 modules are supported with Laird’s smartBASIC, an event-driven programming language that enables OEMs to make their BLE product development quicker and simpler, significantly reducing time-to-market. smartBASIC enables customers to develop a complete embedded application inside the compact BL652 hardware, connecting to a wide array of external sensors via its I²C, SPI, UART, ADC, or GPIO interfaces. The BL652 also provides flexibility in the OEM’s application development choice with full support for using Nordic’s software development kit (SDK) and firmware tools. Based on Nordic Semiconductor's nRF52832 chipset, the BL652 modules provide ultra-low power consumption with outstanding wireless range via 4 dBm of transmit power. A broad range of BLE profiles including temperature and heart rate are available, and smartBASIC provides the ideal mechanism to support any BLE profile development.
BL654 series modules are designed to simplify OEM's enablement of BLE 5 and thread (802.15.4) to small, portable, power-conscious devices. The BL654 provides engineers with considerable design flexibility in both hardware and software programming capabilities. Based on Nordic Semiconductor's nRF52840 chipset, the BL654 modules provide ultra-low power consumption with outstanding wireless range via +8 dBm of transmit power and the long range (CODED PHY) Bluetooth 5 feature. The BL654 is programmable via Laird’s smartBASIC language or Nordic’s SDK. smartBASIC is an event-driven programming language that is highly optimized for memory-constrained systems such as embedded modules. It was designed to make BLE development quicker and simpler, vastly cutting down time-to-market. The Nordic SDK, on the other hand, offers developers source code (in C) and precompiled libraries containing BLE and ANT+ device profiles, wireless communication, and application examples.
