CH and JB Temperature Coefficient Capacitors

TDK has partnered with Digi-Key to expand the availability of the JB and CH temperature characteristics. While the JB and CH temperature coefficients are similar to the C0G and X5R characteristics commonly used in North America and Europe, they are optimized within a reduced temperature spectrum. The images below provide a comparison chart between the CH/C0G and JB/X5R temperature coefficients. The inherent stability of the Class 1 C0G and CH coefficients is evident in Table 1. You will notice the CH is ideal for -25°C to +85°C, with a cap change of 0±60 ppm. The C0G product is supported from -55°C to +125°C, with a cap change of 0±30 ppm. The JB temperature characteristic operates from -25°C to +85°C, with a cap change of ±10%, where X5R performs in the -55°C to +85°C range, with a cap change of ±15%. Both X5R and JB coefficients are Class 2 capacitors and offer higher capacitance but less temperature stability.

These CH and JB temperature coefficients are utilized for purposes such as arc suppression, transient suppression, bypassing, smoothing, decoupling, filtering, blocking, and timing. While basic in nature, current product trends require MLCCs to provide superior characteristics and reliability. TDK has answered this call through its ceramic dielectric thin-layer and multi-layering technologies, supreme quality control measures, and extensive research and development to improve capacitance and dependability to the industry's highest levels.
